Summer! That means the Sonoma County Fair is here. Our Republican booth at the fair has been very busy. We have registered many voters, sold much campaign material and talked to many, many people.
I believe that one of the most interesting things that has occurred at the fair is the many Republicans who want to talk to other Republicans. We heard many times that people would not put any Republican material on their car or around their homes for fear of vandalism such as their cars being keyed. Judging from some of the somewhat deranged Democrats who appear at our booth I fully understand the fears.
We have encouraged people to come to our meetings and to check out our web site. It is important that Republican voters understand that there are registered Republicans in Sonoma County. We need to work harder to band together.
An opportunity to meet more Republicans will occur on September 10th at Legends Restaurant in Santa Rosa. We will have a breakfast with our Speaker, Congressman Tom McClintock. He will speak from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Breakfast will start at 7:30. We have the room until 10:30 and have invited two local candidates to speak after the Congressman leaves. It will be an opportunity to meet other Republicans and to visit with people who can rationally discuss issues and agree on may of them.
You may sign up on line for the breakfast here or send your check to P.O. Box 3555 in Santa Rosa. The zip is 95402.
We are working to elect local state and county candidates. In line with that goal we will be walking precincts and making phone calls in September and October. Charlie Schaupp is our candidate for the 4th Assembly District to the State Legislature. That Assembly district covers Rohnert Park and parts of Sonoma Valley. We need to make changes in the state legislature which is the body that passes so many damaging laws that also restrict our freedoms.
Our web site, www.sonomacountygop.org is our major means of communication in the county. Follow it for updates and news of what we are doing. We will have office hours after the fair is over. If you want to volunteer, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. or call 542-7066 and leave a message.
I look forward to meeting more of our Republican voters in Sonoma County.
