As we celebrate the Fourth of July, we are reminded of the birth of our country and the incredible gift of this country and this constitution. At a time when so many people do not know our history and do not care we are reminded that we have been among the most blessed people on earth. We have the opportunity to live in America and make a life for ourselves in the greatest country that has ever existed.
The tragedy of course is that so many citizens do not know the history of our country or realize the opportunities we have. It is truly a time for Republicans to not be shy about this country and what our party stands for. It is always time to remind people why the Republican Party was founded and the words of Abraham Lincoln: The cause of those first Republicans was “a struggle for maintaining in the world, that form and substance of government, whose leading object is to elevate the condition of men-to lift artificial weights from all shoulders-to clear the paths of laudable pursuit for all-to afford all an unfettered start and a fair chance in the race of life.
The Republican Party in Sonoma County is excited to sponsor various events. On July 18th, our annual Day at the Range will take place. If there are any time slots left the information is on our web site: www.Sonomacountygop.org.
A very important event coming up is the Sonoma County Fair. The dates for the fair are from July 24th through August 9th. The fair is closed on Mondays. This is a great opportunity to work at the fair and meet Republicans. There is a sign up sheet on the County web site. Come and join us. There are parking passes available.
On August 21, a tour of the Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma will take place. Beer and Pizza are included in the price. Check the web site.
We are planning additional events to bring more Republicans in the County together and to let them know that they are not alone.
One focus of the Sonoma County Republican Central Committee in the coming year is to elect more and more Republicans to city councils, school boards and commissions. This county needs to make changes and we need to get our message out. Obviously, the results of the vote on Measure A indicate that many people are not happy with what is happening here.
Given the conditions in our nation and in the world, this is not a time as Margaret Thatcher said to go wobbly. We cannot climb into a hole and toss our hands up because situations are unpleasant. If Republicans do not work to change what is going on, the situation will only get worse.
Thank you for your support. Come join us.
