The pace of activities continues to move along. As we get closer to the election, there is more work to do.
The first event we are all excited about is our breakfast on Saturday, September 10th with Congressman Tom McClintock. Congressman McClintock will be visiting the nine counties of the Northwest Region. He is starting in Santa Rosa for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. He will be speaking from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. This is a chance to hear a national Republican elected official and ask some questions. Make your reservations online at www.sonomacountygop.org or mail your check made out to the Sonoma County Republican Party to P.O. Box 3555, Santa Rosa, CA 95404. We are extending the $35 ticket price until Monday, September 5th. The cost after that date is $45.
After Congressman McClintock gets on the road heading north, we will have the opportunity to hear from Assembly and local city council candidates. It is important that we Republicans know who is running for various positions throughout the county. We take our county back by electing more Republicans to non-partisan offices.
One of the candidates that we will be working very hard to elect is Charlie Schaupp who is running for the 4th Assembly District seat. That district includes Rohnert Park and the upper Sonoma Valley. We need people to walk precincts and make phone calls. If California is going to survive as a state governed with logic and concern for its citizens, we need to change this state legislature which continues to pass horrible or ridiculous legislation (or both). Remember, a two thirds majority in the legislature means that Democrats can pass any legislation they want including raising taxes.
There have been many questions about obtaining Trump campaign material. We have bumper stickers and buttons. Yard signs and hats have been ordered and should be arriving just after Labor Day. WATCH THE WEB SITE FOR HOURS WHEN THE OFFICE WILL BE OPEN SO YOU CAN PURCHASE TRUMP MATERIAL. Some people think that campaign material is free. The days of campaigns providing collateral material to counties are long gone. The committee must purchase all the campaign material.
The committee is well aware that Donald Trump is a controversial candidate. However, there are many people who are excited about his candidacy. The one factor that everyone needs to take into consideration is the person running on the other side. Donald Trump has expressed policy statements that are aimed at making sure that government runs well and that government is out of people’s life as much as possible. That is the direct opposite position of his chief opponent.
Our monthly meetings take place on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in our office on Guerneville Road. All registered Republicans are invited to attend.
See you on the 10th for breakfast with Tom McClintock.
