Chairman's Message - January 2018

Happy New Year!  After all the tragedies of the past fall, I hope that you were able to nonetheless have an enjoyable Christmas season.  We are a resilient people and will make it through these difficult times.

Regardless of natural disasters, politics moves on.  Our speaker series this spring will be focused on people running for office.  We start with a Sheriff candidate forum on January 31 at 7:00 p.m.  All three remaining candidates for the position of Sheriff have been invited to join us for an opportunity to list their qualifications for the job and answer your questions.  This is a non-partisan election which means that the party affiliation of the candidate is not on the ballot.  Come and join us and be prepared to ask questions.

On March 28th we will welcome Mark Meuser, candidate for California Secretary of State.  This is an exceptionally important position in our state since the Secretary of State oversees the voter rolls.  Mr. Meuser is an expert in election law.

On April 25th we will welcome Stephen Bailey, candidate for California Attorney General.   Judge Bailey is a retired judge from El Dorado County.

At our speaker series, refreshments are provided.  There is a charge of $20 because in order to have a headquarters we have rent to pay.  Maintaining an office requires fund raising and we welcome assistance from all.

Our major fund raiser will take place on Wednesday, February 21st at the Flamingo Hotel.  Our speaker will be State Senator Janet Nguyen who represents the 34th senatorial district in Orange County.  Senator Nguyen and her family escaped Communist Viet Nam in a boat.  She understands the privilege and opportunity of being an American.  Come and hear her story and updates about the California legislature.  All information about the event including cost and time will be on our web site:

As you all know, California is in a very difficult time.  Laws are being passed which in the opinion of many, will result in more and more negative results in the Golden State.  Republicans face a hard road but it is one we must travel.  One of the first areas that we can affect this year is to work for the election of state officials who will adhere to the rule of law.  Come and join the Republican Party and find out what you can do to start the journey back to the Golden State.
