Important item before starting chairman’s message. Someone took the bathroom key at our office building on Wednesday night at our meeting. Please call 542-7066 so that it can be returned.
We cannot say that the political scene is dull. Sometimes, we might wish that it were a little bit duller. As the state legislature, dominated by Democrats, continues on its path to rack and ruin for California, we are going to be meeting candidates for various state offices.
On June 28th, our speaker series guest was John Cox, Republican candidate for governor. Mr. Cox presented his plan for a Neighborhood Legislature for California and also shared his background. The well attended meeting was an excellent opportunity for voters to meet a candidate and ask questions. The event also gave Republicans in Sonoma County the chance to meet and exchange ideas. Republicans in the county need to realize that they are not alone. We must come together and speak up about current issues. Given our current climate, that can be a very courageous act.
Our speaker series continues on July 26th with Northwest Regional Vice Chair for the California Republican Party Jim McCully. Jim will update us on research completed regarding the current state of the Republican Party and changes that need to be made. Some of the areas Jim will discuss deal with offense, outreach, statewide field program, new election laws and transparency laws. If you are concerned about the direction California is going and want to see ways to change things, come join us and ask Jim any questions you may have.
Our speaker series is a vehicle for educating voters and bringing Republicans together. Please do not invite speakers to our events without contacting the Chair since the agenda of each meeting has been planned in advance. Such invitations are not fair to people who are not on the agenda.
We are preparing for the Sonoma County Fair which runs from August 3rd to August 13th. If you are interested in volunteering at the fair booth please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. As noted in last month’s message all vendors at the fair must affirm that no volunteers at a booth are on the Megan’s Law Database.
I look forward to meeting more Republicans in Sonoma County. Our state is in a troubled time and everyone who is unhappy cannot leave.
Have a wonderful 4th of July. Happy Birthday, America!
