Chairman's Message - June 2022

Election Day has past and ballots are  being counted. On Friday, the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters reported 72,403 ballot cast.  Sonoma County has over 304,000 registered voters. That is only 23% of registered voters who voted this election. This is an extremely low turn out. 

Republican candidates cannot win if we do not vote and if we do not encourage our family and friends to vote! Politics requires participation!

There are few statewide and district races that are too close to call; but I do want to congratulate the following candidates who are expected to be the GOP Nominee in November:

·      Brain Dahle - Governor

·      Lahnee Chen - Controller

·      Mark Meuser - US Senate

·      Matt Brock - US Congress District 4

·      Gene Yoon - State Senate District 2

·      Charlotte Svolos - State Assembly District 2

·      Bryan Pritchard - State Assembly District 4

Locally here in Sonoma County, we are eagerly awaiting the final results for Andy Springer and his bid to be the next 4th District Supervisor. In the Sheriff race Eddie Engram is very close to receiving the 50%+ of the vote needed to win his election. It appears that County Superintendent candidates Amie Carter and Brad Coscarelli are headed to a runoff in November and Superior Judge candidates Joe Passalaqua and Oscar Pardo are in a dead heat.

Thank you for all you did this election. We asked a lot of you and you delivered. It is because of you that we made over 27,000 contacts to Sonoma County voters through our phone calling and door to door canvassing.  It is because of you that voters had the security of having ballot boxes, voting centers, ballot tabulation and adjudication being observed. Thank you for your passion to affect positive change through the ballot box. And thank you to our Vice Chair Debbie LeBoy for her organization and leadership!

The Sonoma County Republican Party is looking for candidates to run for school boards, city council, fire and water districts. Sonoma County is in desperate need of new representatives. If you or someone you know you thinking about running for office, please email me immediately. We will be holding a candidate training classes this month. Filing for these offices opens up next month so there is no time to waste.
