Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this.
It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts!!!
Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to put away – you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent “Trust Fund” and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A. It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democrat controlled House and Senate.
Q. Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A. The Democrat Party.
Q. Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A. The Democrat Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the United States.
Q. Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
A. Jimmy Carter and the Democrat Party. Immigrants moved into this country and at age 65 began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though many never paid a dime into it.
THEN, AFTER VIOLATING THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT (FICA), THE DEMOCRATS
TURN AROUND AND TELL YOU THAT THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO TAKE YOUR
SOCIAL SECURITY AWAY!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it.
And Congress gives themselves 100% retirement for only serving one term.
A GOVERNMENT BIG ENOUGH TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU WANT, IS STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE. - THOMAS JEFFERSON
Update on the County
As County Chair of the Republican Party, I get many calls regarding the Republican national political scene. People want banners for various candidates. I inform them that we have no banners for any candidates and will have none until there is a nominee after the Republican Convention.
I understand that many Americans are watching the race for the nomination closely as they are concerned with the direction of the country. However, it is important to remember that Republican and Democrat candidates for President come to California to get money. The Democrats don’t come because they are desperate for votes here and the Republicans know that given the lopsided voter registration in this state, they will not carry California and get the Electoral College votes.
So, what are Republicans to do? It is my belief and that of other county chairmen that we will take California back county by county. That means that our emphasis has to be on local races for city councils, school boards and state Assembly and Senate seats.
How is that achieved? One factor of course is money. The state GOP is giving no money to county parties. We raise our own money for offices, charges for fair booths and help to candidates. We do not have union money that ultimately comes from union dues.
The other factor that is crucial to any race is workers. Elections are won by walking precincts and getting the word out. We have an Assembly race in 2016 which includes the city of Rohnert Park. Five people cannot cover Rohnert Park. We need at least 25 people to walk the precincts in Rohnert Park to get out the Republican vote.
The political world is one that takes time, effort and can at times be very discouraging and tiring. However, the alternative to our present state of affairs in this country was seen in the Democrat debate on October 14th. The government will take care of us after it has taken everything we have including our choices and our freedom.
We are all busy. We have work and family obligations and sometimes of course, those cannot be set aside. However, we need to remember that if things don’t change in this state and this country, we will be living very different lives.
The largest increase in voter rolls is the Decline to State selection. Why is that? Well, many Americans do not want to be involved in the political arena. I have heard many times that “I’m just not into politics.” Therefore, folks figure they will not get involved. Here is the message people need to understand. You may not be into politics but politics is into you. If you don’t take a stand and work to change things, decisions will be made that you will not like and you will not be able to change.
Now is the time for Republicans to get busy. Check our website for information and updates of events. Come join us in the fight to save our country. www.sonomacountygop.org.
