District Attorney Alert
If you have been paying attention to the national scene, you could not miss the continual degradation of our laws and law enforcement in our cities especially large municipalities. Do not think that was just a coincidence. The attack on the enforcement of our laws has been very planned.
George Soros has spent more than $17 million on district attorney and other local races in states such as Pennsylvania, Virginia, Arizona, California and New York. In 2016 he dropped $2,000,000 into a single sheriff race in Maricopa County, Arizona. He helped progressive candidate Paul Penzone easily win the election over Joe Arpaio.
Soros money supported African American and Hispanic candidates who all shared his goals of reducing racial disparities in sentencing and directing some drug offenders to diversion programs instead of to trial. The goal is to find, prepare and finance criminal justice reform-oriented candidates for jobs held by longtime incumbents and serve as pipelines to the federal courts.
Prosecutors exercise the greatest discretion and power in the legal system of a community. For people like Soros who is focused on criminal justice reform the reform of the justice system means almost a complete end to prison terms.
Beth Grossman was a conservative candidate for District Attorney of Philadelphia. She lost to Larry Krasner. Under his leadership, homicides in Philadelphia have risen by 12 percent.
George Soros directed his wealth into an under the radar 2016 campaign to advance a core goal of the progressive movement – reshaping the American justice system.
One of the races Soros funded was in Chicago’s Cook County where he helped Kim Foxx defeat incumbent state attorney Anita Alvarez in a high-profile primary campaign. After winning the election, Kim Foxx dropped the charges in the Jussie Smollett case.
In the aim of changing the justice system, Soros backed winners have chosen to not prosecute perpetrators of many crimes. In Los Angeles County DA George Gascon issued a directive to prosecutors that the following misdemeanors will be declined for prosecution with exemptions. The list includes trespassing, disturbing the peace, driving without a license, prostitution and resisting arrest. He has also announced his office will not file any gang enhancements in criminal complaints. He has ended the practice of charging minors as adults and will make victims’ services available to families of individuals shot and killed by law enforcement.
Gascon received over $2 Million in campaign funds from George Soros. There is currently a recall of Gascon going on in Los Angeles county.
These are the reasons for the recall.
“Since being elected, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon has abandoned crime victims and their families. Gascon has disregarded the rule of law and weakened lawful sentencing requirements for the most violent criminals, including murderers, armed robbers, and rapists. George Gascon’s new policies treat career and repeat violent offenders as if they had never committed a crime, ignoring public safety laws approved by the people. Gascon has even reduced sentences on hate crimes, gun crimes and gang crimes.
On behalf of crime victims and their families and in the interest of public safety, this notice of intention to recall George Gascon as Los Angeles District Attorney is submitted.
As of April 27, 2021, six cities in Los Angeles County had passed a vote of no confidence in Gascon: Pico Rivera, Santa Clarita, Beverly Hills, Lancaster, La Mirada and Whittier.
George Soros donated at least $1.5 Million to the California Justice and Safety PAC which backed George Gascon.
Gascon had been DA in San Francisco. He moved to Los Angeles and was replaced in San Francisco by Cheda Boudin. Boudin’s parents were in jail due to their terrorist activities in the Weather Underground where three people were killed. His father is still in jail. He was raised by Bill Ayers and Bernadine Doohen, members of the Weather Underground. The revolutionary activities of the Weather Underground resulted in three people being killed.
In St. Louis, the Soros PAC is reported to have contributed $116,000 to Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner’s re-election bid which she did win. Gardener is the official who brought felony charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey. These are the two citizens whose property was invaded in 2020 and who stood their ground holding their legally owned guns.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Soros spent more than $16 Million on county races outside of California. That 2018 report stated that Soros’s spending in California topped $2.7 million. Soros-connected attorneys have participated in “Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commissions” which teamed with an organization that is in favor of defunding the police.
Sonoma County will have a race for District Attorney in 2022. Currently there does not appear to be any announced candidates. When candidates do announce that they are running it will be important to review the donations that a candidate receives.
