As the World has now come to know, Charlie Kirk, Founder of Turning Point, USA was murdered
while sharing with Students on the campus of Utah Valley University. He was an amazing young man who stood for truth and love and made it his life mission to share that message with students
looking for purpose in their lives. The Sonoma County Republican Party sends our deepest condolences to his wife, children, family and the Turning Point, USA community. We are mourning
with you. May we all continue Charlie's message into our communities and bring the light to those who are in darkness.
The California Republican Party
also had their Convention this past weekend. We sent eight (8) Sonoma County Delegates and two (2) Sonoma County Associate Delegates. We attended workshops, regional meetings and our
General Session on Sunday where we voted on Rules & Resolutions. The main topic for the weekend was how we plan to defeat Prop 50 up and down the state,
county-by-county.
Speaking of Prop 50, the vote is
quickly approaching. Ballots start arriving in mailboxes the week of October 6th. Of the 58 Republican Counties in the State the vast majority of us are working hard to inform the voters
to Vote No on Prop 50. Here in Sonoma County, we will have lawn signs, bumper stickers and handouts to walk your precinct to give to our Republican voters. You can pick up the materials
in our office for free on Sat's & Wed's from 10am-2pm. Any questions, give us a call at 707-542-7066.
Our Statement on Prop 50 is as follows: In 2008 & 2010, California Voters passed Prop 11 and Prop 20 which established the California Citizens Redistricting Commission. The purpose of this Commission was to remove the drawing of the legislative and congressional district lines from the hands of politicians. The Commission consists of five (5) Democrats, five (5) Republicans and four (4) No Party Preference Commissioners. This process has worked for more than a decade and gives voters confidence that districts are fair and not designed to help one party over another. Governor Gavin Newsom & Sacramento Democrats are now asking California Voters to override that process on November 4th and undermine the will of the voters. If passed, it would give the politicians the power to redraw California's congressional district lines. This sets a dangerous precedent and opens the door to partisan gerrymandering in the future. Vote No on Prop 50.
