Safari West is a wonderful animal attraction in Sonoma County. Safari West is a 400 acre wildlife preserve northeast of Santa Rosa. The preserve is home to nearly 1,000 African animals including antelopes, flamingos, giraffes and DeBrazza monkeys. Safari West has 70,000 guests a year and 80% are families. The park employs 150 staff. Peter and Nancy Lang bought the property in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains in the late 1980s. Peter was looking for a place to relocate the wildlife in his captive breeding program in Ventura County
