Taxable Property in Sonoma County
The value of taxable property in Sonoma County reached $114.48 Billion which is a 5.68% increase over 2022. The increase in value is a potential boost for county government departments and other agencies including public schools. These entities depend on property tax revenue.
The property tax roll is processed annually and incorporates the assessed value of real property, including land and attached buildings as well as business property countrywide. This year’s assessment is based on the value of residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural property as of January 1, 2023.
About half of property tax revenue is distributed to public education. Property taxes are also the source for the county’s general fund.
