 New Abbot for Buddhist Sanctuary

The Sonoma Mountain Zen Center installed a new Abbot.  Nyoze Kwong is the first new leader in 50 years.  He succeeds his father, Jakusho Kwong-roshi who has been the abbot at the Center since 1973 who along with his wife founded the Center.  Members of the Zen Center stated that Kwong-roshi’s appointment ensures the long-term future of the Center.  Over 100 people gathered for the ceremony.  Some of the visitors traveled from Iceland and Poland where Kwong-roshi also founded centers.  Nyoze Kwong hopes to see the center finally complete construction of the new temple and restoration of the existing campus.
