Wages Going Up!
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted for a 2.26% increase for contractors and employees. This means that contractors and employees will start earning $17.65 an hour on July 1st. This is the second increase approved by the board in three months and is aimed at shielding low-wage workers from inflation. According to the board: “By requiring the county and its contractors to boost wages for their lowest-paid workers, we are setting an example for other employers to match.” According to the U.S. Labor Department’s consumer price index for all urban consumers, prices for consumers have risen 6% over the last year.
