Sonoma County Supervisorial Board approves $2.27 Billion budget.

After tense but swift deliberations, the County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a budget of $2.27 Billion.  The budget aims to shore up staffing in some county departments including the Sheriff’s Office and the probation department.  Spending on road repairs will also be boosted as well as a few county projects including relocation of the public health lab and morgue. 

Distribution of Funds

  • Sheriff – Extra $5.72 Million
  • Staffing Boosts – Clerk-Recorder-Assessor; Probation Department; Public Defender;Planning and Permitting
  • $310,145 in ongoing funding for county pavement preservation program
  • $5 Million for one-time funding for repair of roads with critical damage
  • $7.7 Million for Tierra de Rosas commercial/residential redevelopment project in Roseland   ---  3rd District
  • $16 Million divided between Districts 1, 2, 4 and 5

A number of issues were not included in this budget.

  • Bike lanes
  • Pension paydown
  • Parking enforcement positions
