Well, this is certainly an April we are never going to forget. Sheltering in place has certainly changed the way we live our daily lives. Although it is an opportunity to get things done at home for many of us (if we don’t have children to teach and monitor) inertia can set in. However, this is a time to get all the things done at home that we constantly put off because when this whole situation is over there is going to be a lot of work to do if we want to save our state and our country.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you are aware of the games being played on Capitol Hill. Unfortunately for our country, the Democrats in Washington have viewed this pandemic as an opportunity to centralize our government even more and to get more money for their favorite causes. $25 Million for the Kennedy Center was bad enough.
Then the director fired all the musicians. Of course, Speaker Pelosi inserted all sorts of goodies into the last bill. Now, she has established a committee to oversee the response to the pandemic crisis to determine if the President has done or is doing everything he is supposed to do. Adam Schiff is in charge of the committee and it is basically a committee to start another impeachment process. It appears that Nancy and Adam have nothing to do as regards their districts (San Francisco and Burbank). Of course, this will all cost a lot of money. What is a million here and a million there? Let’s not forget that the President mentioned the virus in his State of the Union speech. Oh, wait. That was the speech that Speaker Pelosi tore up.
President Trump’s briefings which include members of the task force are extremely informative if a person is listening. Some of the media use the briefings as a way to ask the President stupid and gotcha questions. It is really time for some of these people to grow up.
Hopefully, we will be able to get back to our normal lives in May. We do have a speaker scheduled for our May speaker series which will be on May 27th. Watch for announcements on our web site.
This coming year we will be working very hard reaching out to Republicans in Sonoma County and in other districts to make sure they get out and vote. Getting all Republicans to vote is extremely important as it can be a game changer in results. If you care about California and our country you will be a volunteer.
Stay safe and use this time in positive ways.
Regards.
