Update on Our Prison System
The Sentinel recently wrote about the conditions in women’s prisons where self-identified men who claim to be transgender are placed. The office of Rob Bonta, California Attorney General, states that housing an anatomical male in a women’s prison is no different than housing two people of different races in the same cell. This is the argument that the state of California is making in federal court to protect its law that lets prisoners choose their gender identity for purposes of placement and even bodily searches regardless of sex reassignment surgery or hormone therapy.
The result of placing “transgender” men in a women’s prison is rapes, pregnancies and violence. It is not just inmates that are in danger but female prison workers are also being attacked by these “transgender” men.
The law in question is SB 132 which requires only gender self-identification for housing in women’s prisons. Another well thought out law passed by our legislature. (Pardon the sarcasm).
It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong. Thomas Sowell
