Amendment I of the Bill of Rights
Think about those words of the First Amendment and compare them to what is happening in our country today. How is all of this happening? Here is a possible explanation.
What is a monopoly? Here is the dictionary definition: “exclusive ownership through legal privilege, command of supply or concerted action” “exclusive possession or control”
Throughout American history there have been monopolies of certain industries. The most significant have concerned the steel, oil and tobacco industries.
Until 100 years ago a single company could completely control major industries such as steel and oil. The Sherman Antitrust Act which was passed in 1890 led to the eventual dismantling and restructuring of Standard Oil and American Tobacco by 1911. Although huge, U.S. Steel was not found to be the sole supplier of steel to the U.S. market.
A more recent monopoly found to be in violation of antitrust laws was American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T). In 1982, AT&T was forced to split into seven subsidiaries, known as Baby Bells.
These monopolies had enormous power in the United States and in the world. Their power was legally diminished. How does all of this relate to our political scene today?
Credit is given to Victor Davis Hanson who has spoken about today’s monopoly. That is the monopoly of high tech. The internet and technology have radically changed almost everyone’s life. Companies such as Twitter, Face Book, Instagram and Google have the power to radically affect our lives.
Twitter and Face Book have banned President Trump from their sites. They are also banning anyone who writes in support of the President or who questions the validity of the 2020 election. In addition, anyone who wants to use Parler cannot do so because Google and the Apple App will not activate Parler unless the owner agrees to censor statements that are considered false.
Dr. Hanson compares what is going on with High Tech today as much worse than what was envisioned in Orwell’s 1984. Anyone who says or writes something that is not according to the left wing agenda will be erased.
Another example of left wing censorship is Simon and Schuster Publications which has rescinded Senator Josh Hawley’s book contract. The book is titled The Tyranny of Big Tech. The publisher objected to Senator Hawley’s support of the President.
The ultimate aim of the left is the death of the MAGA movement. There is real hatred by those in the swamp for all of the hard working Americans who go to work, pay their taxes and love their country. Of course, the hatred on the left for Donald Trump is pathological. No one should have that much hate in their hearts.
How much hate? The Democrats in the House are ready with articles of impeachment against President Trump. Professor Jonathan Turley states that the President’s speech doesn’t “meet the definition of incitement under the U.S. criminal code.” In fact, the President’s speech is deemed “protected speech” under the First Amendment.
One thought on the “protest” in D.C. on January 6th. The capitol police opened the barricades to the Capitol and many people thought that since it was the people’s house they could just walk in. Many of those people walked peacefully through the marked entryway. How many of the violent protestors were actually Trump supporters? This question has still not been answered accurately. It will be some day and there will be many efforts to hide the facts if they don’t fit the narrative of the left.
Americans are facing one of the most dangerous times in our history. The attack on the First Amendment is a threat to our very way of life. The owner of Twitter closes down the President of the United States but lets the Ayatollah of Iran write his opinions freely. What is really frightening is that many Americans do not find anything wrong with that.
Now, what do Republicans do as we face the most incredible limitations being placed on anyone who does not toe the liberal line and dares to express a contrary opinion?
It is critical that Republicans who care about our country and our freedom get active in their local cities and counties. We need solid candidates for city councils, school boards and various commissions. We need to make sure that county District Attorneys are not elected with the backing of George Soros Pacs which has happened in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Potential candidates need to start their campaigns now. They also need to work with their local parties to gather support, training and information. Republicans need to pay attention to what is going on in their local government.
It is a high probability that someone on the conservative side will develop a platform that liberals cannot immediately shut down. Parler also needs to find a way to get their site on the internet. It is highly likely the owner of Parler will solve the problem. However, the left is going to be working continuously to stop any significant expression of conservative thought.
Donald Trump thoroughly shook up the swamp. Members of the swamp want to make sure that no one can ever do this again. Therefore, it is critical that conservative and freedom loving Americans be watchful and ready to fight. The real target is Americans who love their country and place the country above personal gain. That is our job if we want to save the America that was born in freedom and liberty.
