Chairman's Message - January 2022

Happy New Year! The Sonoma County Republican Party wishes you and your loved ones a wonderful and blessed new year.

2021 was a definitely a roller coaster year. From the senate losses in Georgia to the Newsom recall to the landslide victories in Virginia, we faced a year of uncertainty yet ended with hope. I am optimistic that people are waking up to the continual failures of big government.

A political focus of the Sonoma County Republican Party is with voter contact and election integrity. In 2021 we were able to contact over 30,000 voters, monitor the testing of ballot tabulating equipment, observe signature verification, observe voting centers, observe ballot counting & observe the 1% hand tally recount.

Nearly every month we held speaker events which included Registrar of Voter Deva Marie Proto, Assemblyman Kevin Kiley, Sheriff Mark Essick, Congressman Mike Garcia, Hoover Fellow Victor Davis Hanson and our Sonoma County Republican Convention, which had over a dozen candidates in attendance. Thank you for being a part of it!

2022 is going to be a big year. We have regularly scheduled elections in June and November. These elections are Biden’s first mid terms and it should be good for Republicans!

The Sonoma County Republican Party is looking for candidates. If you or someone you know is seriously considering running for office please email me at chairman@sonomacountygop.org. We are here to help. We hosted our first candidate training last month and have more scheduled.

On Wednesday, January 19th, we will be holding our local district meetings. Attending local district meetings is a great way to get to know your district leaders and find out how to get involved in local politics. Here are the details as of today:

  • Sonoma Round Table Pizza 201 W. Napa St. @ 7-9pm
  • Petaluma Round Table Pizza 227 S. McDowell Blvd. @ 7-9pm
  • Santa Rosa Round Table Pizza 1791 Marlow Rd. @ 6:30pm
  • Sebastopol Hopmonk 230 Petaluma Ave. @ 7:00pm

On Monday, January 24th the Sonoma County Republican Party will kick off our 2022 Speaker Series with a candidate forum hosting US Senate candidate Mark Meuser and California Attorney General candidates Eric Early and Nathan Hochman. Admission is $20 and you may register here. There is no cost for Patriot Club and Chairman’s Circle Members.

On Wednesday, February 16th we will have our first central committee meeting of the year. Gene Yoon for State Senate, Bryan Pritchard for State Assembly,  Rev. Douglas Brower for US Congress and Scott Giblin for US Congress will be speaking.

We are continuing to collect signatures to get school choice on the ballot. If you have not signed, please stop by our office during office hours (Wed. & Sat. 10am-2pm) and sign. All students deserve a choice of a better quality of education!

It has been a very cold winter so far and the Sonoma County Republican Party is continuing our efforts to help keep our veterans warm.  Please stop in during our office hours and drop off new or very slightly worn hats, scarves, gloves, socks, blankets, rain jackets and sweaters. Our veterans deserve better!

On a personal note, please join me in protest of the Healdsburg City Council's mandate segregating city council members and residents based on vaccination status. I will be meeting others on Monday January 3rd at 5:30pm at the Healdsburg Plaza where we plan on marching toward city hall. Any form of segregation has no place in America. I hope you will join me!

I thank you for your continued support of the Sonoma County Republican Party and look forward to making 2022 the year good governance makes its return to Sonoma County.

In Liberty,

Matt Heath, Chair

Sonoma County GOP
