A New Helicopter in the Sky

The Sonoma County Fire District has started using Sonoma County 1, a Reach Air Medical Services aircraft available as part of a partnership between the two groups.  The burgundy Eurocopter H135 twin engine helicopter is based at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport.  The helicopter will be used for transporting patients to hospitals. 

The Fire District was formed in 2019 and covers Bodega Bay, Guerneville, Forestville, Windsor, Bennett Valley and Rincon Valley.  The helicopter crew including the pilot is employed by Reach.

Next year the fire district, having secured $571,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Port Security Grant Program, will acquire a boat that can be used for emergencies along the coast.  Specifications for the boat are being written right now.
