Another Candidate!
A third candidate is jumping into the race for County Superintendent of Schools. Ron Calloway, Superintendent of the Mark West Union School District has decided to run for the top education job in Sonoma County. Mr. Calloway has been Superintendent of Mark West for 11 years. Mr. Calloway will be running against Amie Carter and Brad Coscarelli. The election takes place on June 7 and a November runoff will occur if no candidate receives more than half the votes.
Mr. Calloway is a strong supporter of early literacy. He further states that he wants to make progress on diversifying the teacher pipeline. His plan involves identifying potential future teachers and fostering their interests early even as middle schoolers and offering support along the way to postsecondary education. Mr. Calloway also wants to leverage the county Superintendent position to identify more affordable housing opportunities for families.
Hopefully, with three candidates, there will be a robust debate.
