Panorama

If you have been paying attention to the news you know that questions have been raised about Attorney General Merrick Garland’s daughter and son-in-law and the business the couple owns.  The business they own is called Panorama.  Attorney General Garland’s son-in-law is Xan Tanner.

Mr. Tanner states that Panorama is a “social learning” resource material provider to school districts and teachers that teach Critical Race Theory. 

The following is a description of Panorama on the internet:

Panorama Education, a startup that surveys students, parents and teachers to collect actionable data, has raised $12 Million in new funding to help school districts make better decisions.

Spark Capital and Owl Ventures led the Series A round. Panorama’s seed investors include Y Combinator, Google Ventures and Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s Startup: Education. 

Mr. Tanner has stated the following: “By asking students to reflect on their experiences of equity and inclusion in school, education leaders can gather actionable data to understand and improve the racial and cultural climate on campus.” Panorama Education.

How does this company gather information?  When a school uses the Panorama Services, it may share information such as student rosters and parent or guardian contact information. Personal information according to Panorama means information that alone or when in combination with other information, may be used to readily identify, contact or locate an individual such as name, address, phone number, school ID number or email address.

Education information means information gathered from students, parents, teachers, staff, and information provided to us by schools. Education information may include Personal Information.

Panorama states that it uses education information to administer surveys for schools. 

It appears that Panorama is building a massive data base. There is also a question regarding the legality of the company’s gathering information from students.

Let us remember that Merrick Garland issued the directive to the FBI to monitor schools that were a threat to safety. Many of those schools are against Critical Race Theory which is heavily endorsed by Panorama Education.
