Lenten Sacrifice

So there is this small town, so small it has one bar.  One evening a new guy in town enters the bar and orders three beers, goes to a table and drinks.  The next night he comes in again, orders three beers, goes to a table and drinks.  This goes on for a while and the bartender asks, “so, you come in each night and order three beers.

What’s with that?  The young man says “at home my two brothers and I would share a beer in the evening.  When I left home, we promised each other that wherever we were, we would share a beer.”  Oh, nice.”

Then one night the young man comes in and orders 2 beers.  Oh no, thinks the bartender.  The next night the young man comes in and orders 2 beers.  The bartender says, “Oh, I’m sorry for your loss.”  The young man looks at the bartender and says “Loss? What loss?  “Well three brothers, three beers, now two beers”  “Oh no,” says the young man.  “ I just gave up beer for Lent.”
