Year Round Camp for Cal Fire Crew
The Los Guilicos campus off Highway 12 east of Oakmont is now the home to the first year-round fire camp in Sonoma County since the Black Mountain Conservation Camp in Cazadero which closed in 1992.
Approximately 40 Cal Fire members are stationed at the Los Guilicos site. Their goal is to improve response time especially in the fire-prone area of east Santa Rosa which was heavily burned by the 2020 Glass Fire. The crew will also provide year-round fuel reduction work
which is critical to cutting the risk of catastrophic wildfires. The official name of the site is the Cal Fire Hood Mountain Fire Center.
