Minimum Wage Increase
In January 2023, the minimum wage in the City of Sonoma will increase to $17 an hour for large businesses and $16 for smaller operations. The minimum wage applies to any person who performs more than two hours of work a week at businesses within the geographic boundaries of the city limits.
“Large employers” are defined as operations with 26 or more employees and small businesses have fewer than 25 employees. The minimum wage rate makes an exemption for “learners” defined as an employee who is at least age 14 but not older than 17.
