Chairman's Message - June 2020

The candidates who are running for office this year find themselves in a unique position as related to the political world.  The virus has altered all past responses.  Besides functioning in a world where face masks are mandated in many places, our candidates must navigate carefully as they campaign.  The latest national events also add another facet to their campaigns.  Here are the Republican candidates Sonoma County voters will have the opportunity to vote for on November 3rd.

Watch our web site for activities supporting our candidates.

Tickets for our gun raffle are still available.  The drawing for the gun will be held at noon on Saturday, June 6th via Zoom.  Specific information will be coming.

The death of George Floyd is a tragedy for Mr. Floyd, his family and people who are committed to equality for all Americans.  However, the riots and anarchy going on in our cities have nothing to do with civil rights.  These disturbances have everything to do with changing the government of the United States from a constitutional republic to a dictatorship of the proletariat.

Unfortunately, the response of the mayors and governors has been awful.  It is only fair to point out that the majority of these cities and states are run by Democrats.  Why is that?  Why is the response of these officials so awful?  Could it be that many (not all) Democrats come into office aiming to change the government they are responsible for instead of managing that government according to the laws and guidelines agreed to by the voters.  It is an absolute scandal that these governors and mayors have not ended these violent demonstrations.  Americans of all racial origins have been damaged by these riots.  Suddenly, the coronavirus doesn’t seem to matter.

The President is committed to ending this mindless violence.  Of course, he is promptly criticized by the media and the left.  By this time, you are all aware that regardless of what he says he will be blasted by the left.  President Trump will never please the people who hate him.

Ronald Reagan had a famous statement.  “The first duty of government is to protect people not run their lives.”

What are Republicans to do?  How about voting?  In the March 3rd primary, 15,000 Republicans did not vote in Sonoma County.  I guess those people were happy with what is going on.  Maybe they think that they can just move.  That might be a good thing.  However, it would be interesting to check out how things are going in some other states.

Watch our web site to find out what is happening.

Stay strong in these difficult times.  We are Americans.

Best Regards.

Edelweiss Geary
