Chairman's Message - January 2019

Happy New Year from the Sonoma County Republican Party.  Contrary to all of the notices that the Republican Party is dead in California, we in Sonoma County are alive and getting ready for the new year.  There are many opposing views of how things should be in California as regards to the party.  There is talk that we are a third party, that there is need for a new moderate party and that California is lost to Republicans.

Let’s look at another scenario.  California is actually in bad shape although according to the media the state is doing great.  We have all this money in the bank and Democrats rule in Sacramento.  That of course is one of the big problems since over 3,000 bills will be introduced in the legislature in January.  Don’t forget that Jerry Brown signed 1,016 new laws this year. Businesses and the middle class are leaving California.  The rate of homelessness, poverty and drug addiction are skyrocketing throughout the state.  Democrats are ready to allow thousands of illegal immigrants we have no information about into the state where Gavin Newsom wants to give them all free health insurance.  It would be great if the media actually reported on the problems in the state in more detail and more often without bias.  Just the facts as per objective reporting.

Our speaker series resumes on January 23rd.  Our speaker will be David Hadley, former Assemblyman who is running for California Republican Party Chair.  This will be your opportunity to ask any questions you have regarding Republican politics in California.

Our Lincoln Day Dinner will be on Tuesday, February 26th at the Flamingo Hotel.  Our speaker will be State Senator Shannon Grove.  Senator Grove was our speaker four years ago when she was in the Assembly.  We will be very interested in her views about Sacramento this year.

Cost and menu information will be available in two weeks.  Watch our web site  for information.

We are in the process of developing a training program for committed Republicans.  More details will be available in a few weeks.

If we are to withstand the progressive forces that are working so hard in this state and the country to radically change our form of government then Republicans need to step up and fight.

Come join us.
