Chairman's Message - February 2021

Can you believe today is the 13th day of the Biden Administration? It seems like an eternity! With over 40 Executive Orders, an Impeachment and Trial and a continued military lockdown of DC, the Democrat Party is showing us that they will do whatever they want to do to take America down the road of progressivism.

The Sonoma County GOP will stand against this “group think” and stand up for our nation’s founding principles of individual freedom and free enterprise. 

According to the LA Times, “California Democrats are beginning to criticize Gov. Gavin Newsom as the governor struggles to respond to the crisis”.  The writing is on the wall.  The Recall Newsom effort has verified over 1.3 million signatures from California citizens.  And with a little over 40 days left, everyday it is looking more likely that we will have the opportunity to fire Gavin Newsom.  The Sonoma County GOP office is open Wednesday 10am-2pm and Saturday 10am-noon for petition drop off, pick up or to sign a petition.  You can also download a petition here.

On Wednesday, January 27th, we hosted Sonoma County Registrar of Voter Deva Marie Proto for our monthly speaker series. After Mrs. Proto’s presentation on the election process in Sonoma County, she spent the next hour answering questions ranging from ballot counting to the concerns over Sonoma County’s use of Dominion Voting Systems. It was a productive conversation. On March 2nd, West Sonoma County is holding a special election. 

·     Measure A – Property Tax Increase

·     Measure B – Hotel Transient Tax Increase

The Sonoma County GOP understands the frustrating situation that the communities of El Molino and Analy High Schools currently find themselves in. Measure A & B are short term solutions. Two years ago, voters passed a $91 billion bond and just last year, passed higher property taxes. Long-term solutions for declining enrollment must be the priority… the students, staff and community deserve this.  

West county has also been hit very hard from the varying economic shutdowns.  The communtities certainly do not deserve any additional economic hardships by increasing taxes.
