Climate Climate Everywhere!
Sonoma County has a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Therefore, Sonoma County’s Regional Climate Protection Authority is considering a potential tax measure on the November 2024 ballot to fund climate mitigation and adaptation projects. A virtual meeting was held when the public was able to weigh in on priorities for addressing human-caused climate change through a host of decarbonization, land management and risk reduction programs. A funding measure placed before voters has to earn the two-thirds vote needed for approval. Options are limited to a sales tax, a parcel tax or a vehicle license fee.
